Enjoyed watching the Germany Greece match tonight. Germany should have made more of their chances in the first half but the made good in the second.

The risks taken in changing the whole front row paid off with both Klose and Reus getting goals.

Hope England get through past Italy but, if they go, that'll be a schitsophrenic match for us! Against agermxny. We would still fall on the side of England.

The strike team are really going to step up to the plate if they want to progress.

We'll see . . .

We went to the Fan Park Berlin to watch the Germany v Denmark final group stage match last night (17/4/12). There was a fantastic atmosphere in the crowd. It sounds like there were somewhere between 400 and 450,000 people in the party mile. So many Black, Red and Gold: flags, hats, garlands, face paint, wigs, shirts . . . It did go very quiet when Denmark scored though! Overall an unforgettable experience . .

Group stages Euro 2012

Well, Group A is all done and dusted with The Czech Republic top the group with their minus goal difference and Russia surprisingly going home after a 1:0 defeat to Greece. I was disappointed to see Poland get knocked out but they really just weren't good enough. Lewandowski didn't really get into that last game ar all. They fought but they didn't make enough chances and didn't take the ones there were. A shame but that's football . . .

Next up, "The Group of Death" and Germany v Denmark. Going up to the party mile to watch this one. There are five big screens set up by the Brandenburg gate in Berlin - it will be heaving there tonight - looking forward to the match and the atmosphere.

Hoping Germany win this one as well and we don't get any funny results like in Group A. We'll see tonight . . . the clock is ticking!

Poland vs Russia in Euro2012

I really enjoyed the Poland - Russia match last night in the 2012 Euros. Both teams were really going for it big time with a lot a national pride at stake.

At the start Poland were really pushing the Russians and were not letting them get into their stride like the did latterly against the Czech Republic. But when the Russians scored they looked like they were on the rise.

Not for long when the Bundesliga came to the rescue in the form of Dortmund's Jakub Błaszczykowski with a  great left footed shot to equalise. What a national hero!

It's all going to be down to their match against the Czech Republic to see who climbs out of this group. Russia have to be favourites to get the top slot, but the second . . . ?

I hope it goes to Poland to give them, unbelievably, their first European Championship win ever

European Championships 2012

The club news is down to transfer rumours for a few weeks.  Hertha have lost a few players already but I’m not too worried about losing the likes of Ottl.  A greater concern might be the four match ban picked up by Thomas Kraft.  We’ll see in the coming weeks what form the team will take next season.
Chelsea has bought in Eden Hazard and is chasing Hulk from Porto.  Lots of money being spent but with Man United having bought in Kagawa they can’t afford to stand still after Drogba leaves.

Well, it’s just two days to go before the start of European Championships 2012 in Poland / Ukraine.  The competition will form a nice summer feast of football to lead into the new season in 2012/13.   I’ll be watching the opening match in Warsaw on the television on Friday and I’ll be cheering on Poland for that match and keeping an eye on the Bundesliga players like Robert Lewandowski.  It’ll be nice to see them play well.
A little bit longer to wait for England to start playing on Monday.  I’m not too sure about how they’re going to do but I hope they’ll prove me wrong.  I’m going to be in Berlin for some of the tournament so I’ll have to find a good bar to watch some of the key matches I think!
