I'll produce a post about it later with photos and a video link but I just wanted to comment on the fine city of London.
I have to say I was so impressed and proud of the organisation on that first day. The army of volunteers that were at the stations were superb and the clear signs at the stations pointing to all things Olympic were impressive as well. They must have helped visitors not used to London.
The security went so smoothly it was unreal. I felt proud and safe to have the military dealing with it efficiently rather than some dodgy private security firm.
We felt awestruck and yet proud of the whole experience.
I have uploaded a short video showing a few snippets of our trip to see the ceremony. It cannot do it justice but it does give some idea about the sound levels and crowd reactions that I didn't really see on the TV coverage.
