Here we are and it's Spieltag 4. already as Hertha travel to Wolfsburg in an attempt to continue their fabulous start to the 2013/14 season. In the past Herths have done very well against Wolfsburg and they have form on their side. So far this season Wolsburg have lost without scoring twice but won handsomely against Schalke once as well. Sadly for Hertha the win was at home. In their last match against FSV Mainz 05 Luiz Gustavo saw red with a second yellow so he will not be featuring in their plans for the match.
Kraft - Pekarik, Langkamp, Brooks, Schulz - Hosogai, Lustenberger - Allagui,
Baumjohann, Ben-Hatira - Ramos!
Hertha had some good chances on the first half and probably had the best of it in that time up until the point Olic was presented with a golden opportunity in the 42nd minute that he wasn't going to waste. Then, in the 45th minute John Anthony Brooks conceded a penalty (or so the ref. decided) that Diego slotted away to make it 2:0. The replay showed that Diego fell over for no apparent reason with no contact from Brooks IMO. Having said this Hajime did handle it in the box earlier from what I could see so perhaps all was in balance by the end.
I am not sure Hertha looked quite the same after that though they still had a few chances and Jos Luhukay brought on both Sandro Wagner and Ronny as subs to shake things up a little.
Well, it had to happen eventually I guess. It ended up 2:0 in Wolfsburg today in front of a crowd of some 28,625 with by far the best support came from those in blue and white from what Ii could hear. However, this was the first time Hertha had lost in thirteen league appearances. In that time Hertha won nine games and saved a point on the remaining four. In fact the last time Hertha lost was back in March in Dresden where they went down 1:0.
I'll be there to cheer the lads on when the Old Lady takes on VfB Stuttgart in less that two weeks after the International break. Onwards and upwards - Ha Ho He!
